Final Leg of the Race

7 06 2012

Hey all,

If you haven’t heard, Jenn and I are in the final leg of the contest.  We made it onto the third phase and made an amazing video of our fictitious wedding day! The contest winner is going to be decided by 10 judges AND the number of VIEWS on our video!  Please take a minute and check out our video!  Hit the page as many times as you can to help us out big time!  We have been making a comeback from the first weekend the videos were posted and have more confidence in being close!

Please take at least watch the first minute… but we think it is worth watching the full video!

Thanks,

Max and Jenn!!

And now Phase 3!!!

21 04 2012

Firstly, Max and I would like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who faithfully checked our blog during the contest!!! We are soo lucky to have you all in our lives and were extremely surprised and thankful for all the support! Thankfully, your efforts to support us were not ignored and we have officially made it to the last phase of the contest! We now officially have a 25% chance at winning an amazing wedding threesome from WeddingGirl Dot Ca, Rick Denham and Captivate Bridal!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us and stay tuned – we don’t know what Phase 3 has in store for us yet🙂

However, before we can formally move on, we need to make one last blog post. Max and I have had a full week to reflect on our blog writing experience… Overall, although a lot of work and time went into our blog, we are extremely thankful for the opportunity. For 3 weeks, Max and I made time to sit down together and work on writing about some of the most important moments in our lives. As much as possible, we took turns as the lead writer, with the other sitting close by providing creative guidance, suggesting photos and mostly getting off track reminiscing about stories and moments that never made the cut.

We had a blast going through old photos and laughing at how ridiculous we looked when we first met. We were reminded of a lot of fun times with our friends, families and each other. Although we thought we wouldn’t have enough to blog about at first, we actually found ourselves scrambling at the end to get all of our favourite posts in. In the end, we have a long list of favourite posts: We both loved writing our posts on our wedding parties, it was a great opportunity for us to show them off and share with all of you how absolutely amazing they all are!!! The post written by my Co-MOHs (and supported by some of our best friends) was also a complete front runner – we had absolutely no input in the post and actually didn’t even read it until it was shared with all of you…we were completely overwhelmed by all the love from our friends – it makes us that much more excited about our wedding day!!

What did we learn through this process? I think a lot of what we already knew about each other was confirmed! Max loves telling long winded stories and sharing way too much detail!!! I spent a lot of my time editing his posts and removing a lot of content! You can all thank me later as our posts were still quite long🙂 On the other hand, Max says that I spent all my time looking for pictures and very little on writing – what can I say… writing just isn’t my thing🙂 Even the way we shared our posts with all of you was very different – Max posted everything to facebook and twitter and Google+, etc… while I quietly spread the word with my friends and asked them to spread the word with their friends as well. In the end, our combined efforts obviously paid off as we are in Phase 3!!!!!

For all of our friends and family, we totally encourage you keep a blog as well! We say this for 2 main reasons 1) it’s our turn to read your life stories and get to know you better🙂 It’s funny how much you can learn about people by simply following their blogs and seeing what they choose to write about. 2) it’s a wonderful keepsake for when you get old and grey and forget all about your fun youthful days!! Max and I definitely appreciate having this blog to remember our wedding planning process, and our quick trip down memory lane.

Thanks again for reading and checking in!! We 1000% appreciate it🙂

~ Jenn & Max

At our best!!

Thank you, Thank YOU, THANK YOU!!

10 04 2012

Well, it has come down to the final few hours before the close of the second phase of the Wedding Threesome contest. We are anxiously awaiting results from Rick Denham Photography, WeddingGirl Dot Ca and Captivate Bridal which we will find out if we made it on Monday! Keep your fingers crossed until then!

We wanted to dedicate our last post to thanking everyone for checking our blog over the last few weeks.  We know that you are all busy, so it means a lot to us that you took some time out of your day to aide us in our little quest to win this contest! Hopefully, you enjoyed reading about some of our adventures over the years and seeing many photos of us and our friends over the course of our relationship (thus far).

It was a unique experience to share our lives with the world, and was interesting to see where our reach extends to! We had readers from all over the globe, including: Australia, Nigeria, Egypt, England, US, and India (and that was just today).

Cheers to Our (Hopeful) Win!

We really hope that your efforts have propelled us into the final phase of the contest. We look forward to finding out what crazy thing we have to do for the last phase!

Message from the Co-MO’s Jen and Anna

10 04 2012

It’s something pretty special when you can say you’ve been friends with someone for 16 loooong years. For as long we can remember, the three of us (the three musketeers aka: Jenn, Jen, and Anna) have been fairly co-dependent on each other (whether we are making the most minor decisions as to what to wear out to the bar on a Friday night to major ones like what University to go to or what house to buy) they’ve all required major consulting between the three of us. It hasn’t been without work though! Making friendships last this long has required patience, effort to make time for each other and most importantly because we have grown from little kids, to teens, to adults together – we’ve given each other the room to change and develop into the people we are today.

The Three Muskateers

It’s been a privilege to watch the relationship between Jenn and Max develop from the very beginning. It all started when the three of us requested to live side by side in South residence at the University of Guelph and Max was conveniently located just one tower away! We were cheap and didn’t buy cable for our TV lounge so we sneakily ventured into the boys TV lounge next door and that’s where we found Max. We have been quite lucky in that all the friends we made in first year residence are still the same close knit group we hang out with today and, as such; we all spent an awful lot of time together in Rez. This is where the romance started for Jenn and Max.

It was pretty clear that there were sparks between the two of them right from the get go, but they took their time getting to know each other as friends and were officially a couple by second semester. But, before the dating began we knew Jenn was a goner for several reasons

1) Max is country at heart. His cowboy hat and boots had Jenn swooning at first sight.

2) He LOVES country music and Jenn finally had a partner in crime with which to share her musical tastes (because the two of us rarely let her have her way in that department!)

3) He was super sweet and thoughtful. Max was always looking out for Jenn … especially when we got too deep into the Bacardi Breezers. Even before they were dating, he was her official bodyguard, providing important duties such as cross-campus piggy back rides when walking was not an option!

4) He made her BLUSH, all the time!! Max is a bit of a cheese ball and just says what’s on his mind, and when it’s about Jenn it was usually something cute and endearing. She spent a lot of time giggling and red in the face when he was around

Being a wonderful guy, Max understood that Jenn came as a package deal with us, and he quickly earned our “approval” by making Jenn the happiest we had ever seen her once they began dating in second semester! First year flew by and summer was upon us, and just a few months into their relationship Jenn had to move away for the summer to take a job in Montreal. For most, this would have been a deal breaker, but Jenn and Max made it work like seasoned pros. They had daily phone dates (there was in fact, a schedule for calling Jenn. Time slots allotted for Max and times for us to call so we didn’t cut into each others daily catch up time!). They spoke every day, Max visited as often as he could, and when she returned home at the end of the summer they were closer than when she left!

We were incredibly lucky again in second year, the three of us plus our friend Jane moved into a townhouse on Campus and Max and the boys moved into a townhouse just a few doors away! However, in reality, Max lived with us; Max was our unofficial fifth roommate and a good one at that. He helped with the chores around the house and we happily let him quasi-move in Like first year, second year also flew by and Jenn had to leave again but this time for an entire year to take a job as an Au Pair in Switzerland. It was hard to have her so far away and for so long, but again, the two of them just upped their game! In addition to the daily phone dates there were scheduled movie nights which consisted of watching films together on Skype, Max saved up and visited Jenn is Switzerland, and the list goes on!

Jenn came home a few weeks earlier than scheduled, and we decided it would be fun to pull a fast one on Max. We picked up Jenn from the airport the afternoon she returned from Switzerland. After getting over our excitement for her return the plan was set in motion. We conveniently asked Max to hang out that night and he was going to meet us for ice cream at our favourite place to grab desert, Dimitries, so nothing was out of the ordinary. We met up with Max that evening and placed our order and shortly after that Jenn snuck into the restaurant. She crawled though the entrance to avoid detection and casually walked up to our booth, like it was no big deal. Unfortunately there is no photographic evidence but needless to say his expression went from shock to confusion back to shock and then he broke out into the biggest grin He was surprised and pretty darn elated to say the least!

Jen helping Jenn get ready for her welcome home party!

Fast forward to present day, Jenn and Max are as much in love today as they were in the beginning. Together they have completed their undergraduate and master’s degrees and begun careers in the “real world”. Last January Jenn and Max took a big step and purchased their first home in Waterdown, Ontario. Together they have worked to make it their own, by decorating, painting and endlessly searching for true white furniture! They have also spent the last few months tirelessly working to plan the perfect wedding. The only thing their special day is missing is the perfect wedding threesome to capture every moment of the magic. If we haven’t yet convinced you that these two love birds deserve to move on to phase 3 of the contest, here are a few candid thoughts from some of their close friends:

“Jenn & Max are a perfectly compatible couple. They are so in love and, after eight years, clearly know what it takes to be in a committed, long-lasting relationship. I am so happy that they are getting married next January (great month for a wedding!) and I wish them all the best.”

Jane (former roommate, January wedding buddy, and soon-to-be the first Mommy in our group of friends!)

“Jenn and Max are two friends that my fiance Jim and I just love to hang out with – we have so much fun together! We often lure them over to our house with things like Nonna-made gnocchi (Jenn) and nice cold bottles of Stella (Max). Once we have them over, we ensure the drinks are flowing until Jenn is calling Max by his full name “MaaaAaaAaxwelllllll!!!”… The nights sometimes end with falling out of hot tubs and getting concussions (Max) and dancing to “the Wiggle song” while laughing uncontrollably with the hiccups (Jenn) but they keep coming back! The best nights are when Loki comes too. Loki also likes to have a few drinks and let loose when he comes over. Jim and I look forward to many, many more fun times with these great friends of ours, and are counting down the days until the wedding!!!”

– Jim and Megan (Max’s new drinking/baseball loving buddy and Jenn’s long lost twin from work)

“Having lived with Max for over three years, I have had the privilege to get to know Max and consider him as one of my best friends. Through my three years of living with Max, I have also had the opportunity to get to know Jenn. Jenn is an amazing person and Max is a lucky man to be marrying her. I hope you guys win this contest to complement how special this day will be to both of you.”

George (Max’s close friend and former roommate)

“One of my fondest memories of Jenn and Max as a couple is from a few years ago when we all went golfing and Jenn showed us up! Her first time on a course and every shot was as straight as an arrow in spite of her gumby style back swing. That day I realized how much Max loved Jenn as he had nothing but encouraging words for her as he hacked away at the rough two holes over.”

Mike (formerly Jenn’s childhood friend who jumped ship, and is now Max’s BFF)
